The Team Leader Apprenticeship is ideal for team leaders or supervisors working within a first line management role, with operational and project responsibilities or responsibility for managing a team to deliver clearly defined outcomes.

Through the apprenticeship , you will learn how to support, manage, and develop team members, oversee projects, and effectively plan and monitor workloads and resources.

You’ll deepen the skills necessary to take responsibility for delivering operational plans, resolving issues, and building strong relationships.

The Level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeship not only equips you with practical expertise but also allows you to showcase your achievements in a portfolio of real improvement activities, helping you stand out at work.

Requirements for study:

  • A minimum of 6 hours per week spent in off-the job training.
  • Apprentices aged 18 at the start of their apprenticeship, who do not yet have Maths and English qualifications at GCSE equivalent, will be required to undertake additional learning to complete Functional Skills Level 2.
  • Apprentices aged 19+ at the start of their apprenticeship who do not yet have Maths and English qualifications at GCSE equivalent, will have the option to undertake additional learning to complete Functional Skills Level 2.

How the apprenticeship works:

  • The programme is over 13 months plus 4 months for End Point Assessment (EPA).
  • Attendance at 13 face-to-face teaching days or online sessions for apprenticeship Standard content.
  • Regular progress reviews with CIRO coach and line manager for support and to guide development opportunities
  • Access to online learning resources.
  • Access to CIRO Rail Academy Introduction to Rail online course.
  • Access to CMI Management Direct management resource portal.
  • Access to webinars for further learning and behavioural development.
  • OneFile portfolio development.
  • End Point Assessment, carried out by an independent end point assessment organisation, includes delivery of presentation with questions and completing a professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence.
