Worldline

Today more people travel by rail than at any point since the 1920s, when the rail network was around twice its current size.

Worldline has been established for over 50 years and successfully operates across three main business lines; namely Merchant Services (MS), Financial Services (FS) and Mobility and e-Transactional Services (MTS)

The rail operations team is part of MTS, but has its roots in the UK rail system. It was originally part of British Rail Business Systems before privatisation in the 1990s.

Today Worldline MTS provides critical operational systems to the UK rail network, such as supporting the TOPS and TRUST mainframe systems, and supplying the R2 vehicle database.

Worldline also provide a range of train planning, rolling stock and train crew diagramming, Control office decision support and customer information systems, and provides interfaces into Traffic Management Systems.

Internationally Worldline provides rail operations support to multiple Railway Undertakings from its Austrian base.

Globally, Worldline employs 18000 people worldwide,  with ~200 in rail operations, and in 2023 generated a revenue proforma close to revenue of circa €4.6 billion euros.
