Steve Helfet, Deputy Director of Railway Operations at ORR has 22 years experience in railway operations. he joined ORR in 2022 after 7 years in operations, commercial and customer leadership roles at London Midland/West Midlands Trains. Prior to that, he was Transport for London’s Head of Operations at DLR, delivering (with our operating partner) services for the Olympics and Paralympics in 2012 and designing the DLR performance incentive regime included in the 2014 concession contract.
Steve will explore how the organisation safeguards safety, value, and performance across Britain’s railways and England’s strategic road network. He’ll also shed light on the wider operational work ORR undertakes behind the scenes.
