Tony began his journey as a maintenance Signalling and Telecoms Apprentice in 2000 and has had the privilege of working on mechanical and modern signalling equipment, such as Neasden Junction and cutting-edge signalling technology, sometimes just a mile apart. Over the years, he contributed to the introduction of innovative technologies and led the recovery of major incidents with pride.
In 2018, he transitioned into operations through what was initially a short-term secondment. This step proved to be pivotal, allowing Tony to develop the Incident Officer role and take on a series of leadership positions, including Route Control Manager, Senior Network Delivery Manager and Route Operations Manager. These roles gave Tony the opportunity to see the railway through different lenses, broadening his perspective and deepening his appreciation for the industry’s complexities.
Tony encourages others to consider stepping outside their comfort zones and exploring roles across disciplines: “It’s an incredibly rewarding way to grow professionally and gain fresh insights.”
