What it takes to deliver a brand-new train service – The launch of the Middlesbrough LNER services

A webinar led by Amanda Clarke of London North Eastern Railway

What’s Being Covered?

A new direct train service between Middlesbrough and London started in December.  LNER’s daily weekday Azuma service will be the first wave of trains between Teesside and London.  More regular, direct services are planned by LNER in the future following the completion of further station works at Middlesbrough, which are currently being progressed by Network Rail.

David Horne, LNER Managing Director, said the new service would “open up new economic opportunities” for Middlesbrough and Teesside.  He said: “The new, direct services will see journey times of around three hours between London and Middlesbrough, offering more opportunities for business travel, tourists and international visitors wanting to travel to the Tees Valley.”

Amanda Clarke is Project Manager – Operational Programmes with London North Eastern Railway and will talk about what was involved in planning and delivering the new service.

This talk will be of particular relevance to those interested in the “Delivering Passenger & Freight Services” element of the IRO Professional Operators Development (POD).

We look forward to welcoming you at this event, for which you are required to register in advance.

Kind regards

CIRO North East Area Council
