The North East Area Council invites members and families to our family day on the Wensleydale Railway, which runs through the delightful Yorkshire Dales from Leeming Bar to Leyburn.
There are two options for starting your day (both of which begin with meeting at Leeming Bar) – members and their guests can either meet at 0900 for the 0930 departure to Leyburn or meet at 1100 for the 1130 departure to Leyburn. If you could indicate your preference when booking.
The visit will allow you freedom of the line and we will have our own reserved MkII carriage for the whole day, allowing you to hop on and off as you please. There is also the option to travel on the short section to Scruton where you can visit the ‘Living History Experience’ and learn what life was like in the early 1900’s. If you are heading to Leyburn, which boasts lots of independent shops and walking opportunities on the ‘The Shawl’, you can also alight at Bedale, known as the gateway to the Dales.
Lunch will be served on the train and visits are planned to Bedale Gate Box, Leeming Bar yard and loco maintenance area (all subject to availability on the day).
Places are limited to 40 for this visit, therefore please register as soon as possible, as places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
When booking, please let us know whether you have any mobility or dietary requirements. Further details will be given to those who have been allocated a place.
