What’s Being Covered?

The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is a transformative, multi-billion pound railway programme that will bring better connections in the North between York and Manchester, via Leeds and Huddersfield.  TRU will transform this line into a high-performing, reliable railway for passengers.  The upgrade will bring more frequent, more reliable, faster, greener trains.  It will achieve this by upgrading and remodelling track, installing a new signalling system and electrifying the whole route.  The project is also looking at how we can run more freight trains, moving more critical goods by rail and taking lorries off the roads.

John Reed is Industry Programme Director for Network Rail and will provide an update on the latest progress of the Transpennine Route Upgrade programme.
