The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is a transformative, multi-billion pound railway programme that will bring better connections across the North between York and Manchester, via Leeds and Huddersfield. TRU will transform this line into a high-performing, reliable railway for passengers and freight. The upgrade will bring more frequent, more reliable, faster and greener trains. It will achieve this by upgrading and remodelling track, installing a new signalling system, introducing new trains and electrifying the whole route. The project is also looking at how we can run more freight trains, moving more critical goods by rail and taking lorries off the roads.
Adam Sellars, TRU Senior Sponsor at Network Rail, Liam O’Shaughnessy, TRU Programme Delivery Lead at Northern and Sara Kettlewell, Head of TRU at Northern, will be talking us through:
• Overview of the TRU programme
• How it’s going
• Working differently
• Customer benefits and managing disruption
POD Sections:
03: Delivering Passenger & Freight Services
09: Railway Engineering Maintenance & Renewable Management
12: Finance & Investment Planning
