About the Event

Join the South West and Wales Area Council, for an opportunity to visit Thames Valley Signalling Centre situated close to Didcot Parkway railway station.

Opened in 2010 Thames Valley Signalling Centre has progressively signalled the bulk of the Great Western mainline from Paddington to Patchway, Lavington, Flax Bourton, Charfield, Kemble and Heyford including the various Thames Valley branches.

Traffic-wise, it’s a busy mixed passenger and freight railway with inter-city services, metro, commuter and regional trains and many important heavy freight trains including intermodal, aggregate, aviation fuel and household refuse.

The itinerary will include a chance to visit the signalling floor (several desks) and the simulator room. There will also be opportunity to speak with railway professionals.

How To Attend

This is a CIRO members only event as visitor numbers are limited to 12 attendees, 6 in each tour (14:00 or 16:00) and places will be drawn from a randomised ballot.
