Railways on Fire

Gerald Taylor is senior officer with Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service and the newly-appointed National Fire Chief Council’s (NFCC) Lead for Transportation (Rail, tunnels and underground structures).  Before joining the D&SFRS he occupied senior management positions in the rail industry, including with CrossCountry.

Gerald will speak on:

  • the statutory responsibilities of Fire and Rescue Services  particular as relevant to the relationship with the rail sector.
  • the management of rail incidents from a fire and rescue perspective, including the type of incidents the F&RS attend on rail infrastructure, operational tactics and equipment, incident command structure and the interaction rail colleagues at the operational, tactical, and strategic level.
