Come and join us for a presentation from Ian Stone where he will share with us the challenges of operating charter trains on our busy network. From one off trips with 100-year-old steam trains to Polar Express experiences. Close at the heels of steam locos there is a burgeoning market for diesel hauled services some locos now in their 60th year of running and proving ever more popular, as well as high end luxury land cruises.
There are approximately 20 heritage steam locos (all privately owned) that traverse the network and each one has to be pathed by the Charters team at Network Rail, no mean feat considering steam locos need a regular supply of water en route. Ian is to Charter Operators and Promotors the ‘face’ of Network Rail.
Please join us on Wednesday November 30th at Tatton House (Avanti Training Academy) in Crewe to hear Ian and ask those questions you have about running a charter service. We will meet at 17:30 for refreshments and the presentation will begin at 18:00. You can find the full venue address below, and the booking form at the bottom of this page. Please make sure to book your ticket by 08:00 on Tuesday 29th November.
