Richard Byrne, MCIRO & HM Inspector of Railways Presents ORR- An Insight into the role of the rail regulator
“The Railway Inspectorate was founded in 1840, at the very dawn of the modern railway. Since then the industry has never stood still,  always striving to become better, faster and safer.  This has led to many high and low points but we have always been there in support. Many of the fundamental safety measures we take for granted have been developed through our valued partnership, making our railway one of the safest in Europe. This presentation will provide an insight into our journey from the Board of Trade Inspectorate of the 19th Century, up to the role we now play as a modern railway regulator.”
This presentation also covers section for 4 of the CIRO POD: 4 – Managing Safety
