About the Event

Oswestry was the Administrative and engineering centre of the former Cambrian Railways Company, and the impressive station building, built in 1860and, now listed, was also the railway’s headquarters. Adjacent are the South Signal Box and the Cambrian Railway Museum (entry is free). Weston Wharf station is just under a 2 mile journey from Oswestry, and is adjacent to the 1860s Cambrian Railways Goods Shed. Here, there is also a picnic area, children’s activity train, period waiting room and cafe. Immediately adjacent to the station is the Stonehouse Brewery, with its bar and restaurant. Alternatively you can explore on foot the local industrial heritage or the Wats Dyke Way footpath. Toilets are available at all these sites.

 

How to Attend

The North West & Wales Area Council will subsidise the cost of this family fun day.

Those attending can either drive to the station is Oswestry, or travel by train from Crewe or Chester to Gobowen, where taxis to Oswestry will be arranged.

Please register interest below by Monday 15th June and when the composition of our party is known, detailed travel and meeting arrangements will be communicated.
