Across the rail sector, extraordinary people are working hard, helping others, and going above and beyond every day. Is this one of your colleagues or teams within your organization? It’s time to reward them.

The Golden Whistle Awards allows you to nominate them to be recognised for their excellent service to the industry and rail operations during 2024.

Nominations are now closed for the 2025 Golden Whistle Awards Outstanding Operators/Outstanding Team category.

Golden Whistle Awards 2025 – Outstanding Operator/Operating Team Nominations

We are delighted to share the shortlisted nominees for the Outstanding Operator/Operating Team category of the Golden Whistle Awards 2025! After receiving an exceptional array of nominations, the CIRO South East Area Council has carefully reviewed and selected the following individuals and teams for their outstanding contributions to the rail operations sector.

Outstanding Individual Nominees

These individuals have consistently demonstrated excellence, innovation, and leadership in their roles:

Outstanding Team Nominees

These teams have worked collaboratively to achieve extraordinary outcomes in the rail industry:

• East Coast Partnership – Coffee Cup Run Project Team – LNER
• Mendip Rail Recast Project – A joint effort between Freightliner, Network Rail (Capacity Planning, Railfreight Team, Wales & Western Region), Mendip Rail Ltd, Heidelberg Materials, and Aggregate Industries
• Strategic Co-ordination Team (Christmas 2024) – Network Rail
