The North East Area Council invites members to our Family Day at the Appleby Frodingham Railway, which is based at Scunthorpe. The railway operates entirely within the Steelworks limits over tracks normally used for moving molten iron, steel and raw materials. Trains travel up to 15 miles, all within the steelworks.
We will meet at the Appleby Frodingham Railway departure platform at 11.30. Travel by train from Doncaster to Scunthorpe and walk approx 1¼ miles to the railway departure platform. Alternatively, the visitors’ car park is located in British Steel Gate E, Main Approach Rd, Scunthorpe DN16 1TS.
We will be taken on a brake van trip in our own special train round the steelworks, lasting 3 – 3½ hours. We have requested steam traction. During the visit a buffet lunch will be provided in the Appelby Frodingham Railway Shed buffet car.
Places are limited to 30 for this visit. Therefore please register as soon as possible, as places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Further details will be given to those who have been allocated a place. If a delegate subsequently cannot attend, it is essential that they notify the organiser; late advice or failure to notify may reduce eligibility for subsequent events.
You will find the booking tool below. Spaces must be booked by Wednesday 13th July at 8:00.
When booking, please let us know the number of adult and child places you would like, and whether you have any dietary or mobility requirements.
Bookings are closed for this event.
