The North East Area Council invites members and their families to our family day on the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway, which was part of the former Midland Railway route from Skipton to Ilkley . The heritage line currently runs for a distance of 4 miles from Embsay via Draughton Sidings, Holywell and Stoneacre Loop to Bolton Abbey station and carries around 100,000 passengers a year.
Car parking will be available for members at Embsay station. On arrival we will be given tea / coffee and an introduction to the preserved railway, including a talk on the restoration of the 1903 Autocar by members of the restoration team, followed by a trip on the Autocar for a buffet lunch at Bolton Abbey Station before our return to Embsay.
It is hoped to include some specific visits to the operational parts of the railway, including tours of the carriage and restoration sheds, as well as a signal box visit.
Due to the popularity of last year’s family event places have been increased to 45 for this visit. So register as soon as possible, as places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
