About the Event

CIRO South West and Wales Area Council invites members and industry professionals to a timely professional development event featuring Richard Hines, HM Chief Inspector of Railways / Director of Railway Safety.

This presentation will provide a clear overview of the role of the Office of Rail and Road (ORR) and its Inspectors in regulating railway safety across Great Britain. It will also explore how the ORR’s role is expected to develop as the industry transitions towards Great British Railways (GBR), and what this means in practice for infrastructure owners, operators, and delivery teams.

The session will conclude with a review of recent railway incidents, highlighting key lessons learned and the current priorities and focus areas for inspectors.
