How are partnerships shaping rail in the North? Carolyn Watson, Northern’s Director of Stakeholder and Community Engagement, explores the changing relationship between rail, its stakeholders and partners as Mayoral Authorities gain greater devolved powers.
Founded in 2004, the Tyne Valley Community Rail Partnership is a local, grassroots organisation connecting communities and visitors with the Tyne Valley Railway from Carlisle to Newcastle. It’s Community Rail Partnership Officer, Fiona Forsythe will share how collaboration with train operators, local authorities, and volunteers improves stations, attracts passengers through local marketing and tourism, and champions services that meet local needs. It also works with schools and youth organisations to support rail safety initiatives and highlights the career opportunities available in the rail industry.
The CRP was in the news recently when it received the award for ‘Railway 200 Event of the Year’ at the prestigious National Rail Awards held in the Grosvenor House Hotel, London in September – the “Railway Oscars”.
