The North East Area Council invites members to a presentation on Policing the Railway. British Transport Police is a national police force that polices the railway network of England, Wales and Scotland. The force polices more than 10,000 miles of track and more than 3,000 stations and depots – tasked with ensuring the safety of the millions of people who use and work on the railways. BTP also polices the London Underground, Docklands Light Railway, West Midlands Metro, Croydon Tramlink, Tyne and Wear Metro and Glasgow Subway. The force is funded primarily by the rail industry.
The presentation will be delivered by Iain McLaren, Inspector, Pennine Division, British Transport Police, who will be talking to us about the structure of the BTP, how it supports the operation of the railway, both in a proactive and reactive way, whilst also sharing his view of the challenges that policing the railway brings.
We look forward to welcoming you at this event, which will give members the opportunity to network while enjoying light refreshments before the talk. We know that many members welcome the opportunity to meet industry colleagues and we will also adjourn to the ‘York Tap’ after the event for some drinks and a chat.
You can register for the webinar by clicking the link below.
You can also book a space for the in person talk at the bottom of this page.
