CIRO Announce OFQUAL EPAO Approval | Chartered Institution of Railway Operators

The Chartered Institution of Railway Operations are delighted to announce that our application for OFQUAL recognition as an EPAO has been successful. Following a rigorous process of review conducted by OFQUAL into our practices, processes, and resources, CIRO are now able to be added to the EPAO register.

What does this mean?

The approval of OFQUAL as an EPAO means that CIRO can continue to offer End-point assessment services for the Train Driver Apprentice Level 3 into 2023 and beyond, which is great news for the rail industry.

Why CIRO?

Our assessment techniques and resources have been developed with the input and approval of a wide range of stakeholder organisations, including ASLEF throughout. By providing End-Point Assessment (EPA) we hope to keep levy funding in the industry. Acting in a not-for-profit way has allowed CIRO to develop a cost effective, meaningful EPA for the industry whilst maintaining the highest quality; learners gave CIRO a 97% satisfaction rating.

How much does it cost?

As the professional institution for railway operators, and with our not-for-profit approach, CIRO can charge significantly less than the £4,200 maximum fee for the Train Driver Apprentice Level 3 EPA.
