“To lead, inspire and accelerate the growth of rail professionals, cultivating collaboration to support the success of rail organisations, now and in the future.”

The Chartered Institution of Railway Operators (CIRO) is the only professional institution whose purpose is to develop and promote the profession of rail operations.

CIRO is the UK’s leading provider of recognised training opportunities for the railway operations sector.

This year, CIRO are celebrating 25 years of enhancing the professional development of railway operators across the globe and shaping the future of rail. Alongside this celebration, CIRO are proud to announce the launch of its ambitious new mission and values, developed as part of an innovative two-year strategy.

Since CIRO’s inception, our knowledgeable team has worked alongside our members to provide professional recognition, networking opportunities and valuable training programmes; all whilst promoting the UK railway industry to the wider world.

Connecting operators with fellow professionals, accessible learning resources and engaging events; our vision is to support improvement in the quality of the railway operations workforce and help railway organisations to succeed.
