CIRO is honoured to be shortlisted for ‘Great Place to Work’ at National Rail Awards 2025 .
This prestigious award recognises a great employer which focuses on positive employee relationships and satisfaction – particularly in response to the growing challenges of retaining a skilled, motivated and happy workforce in the rail sector.
The nomination for this award came following an organisation-wide review of employee satisfaction and engagement, which resulted in the implementation of a new, wide-reaching wellbeing strategy.
One key element of this strategy was CIRO’s approach to flexible working conditions and introduction of staff wellbeing days.
For instance, one staff member commented, “CIRO’s flexible working arrangement helps me to balance my family, life, and career, thereby enhancing my productivity, creativity, and well-being.”
Another states, “We’re incredibly fortunate that CIRO supports wellbeing days, recognising the importance of self-care and giving us the chance to recharge and thrive both personally and professionally.”
Moreover, it is commonly recognised that staff working for CIRO greatly enjoy doing their respective jobs. According to an internal study, 93% of CIRO staff feel that CIRO is a “Great Place to Work” which is a huge rise from just 45% the previous year.
Phil Sherratt, CEO of CIRO, commented:
“Wellbeing is fundamental to creating a thriving workplace, and for an organisation like CIRO, where people are at the heart of everything we do, it’s absolutely essential.”
This sentiment is noticeably evident with CIRO’s recent implementation of different wellbeing initiatives such as, wellbeing days, wellbeing policies and platforms, Tea & Talk sessions and increased recognition across the entire team.
Once again, we are privileged to have been recognised as a Great Place to Work by the National Rail Awards and extend our sincerest of luck to the other finalists of this award.
