Annette Shipley Named CIRO Chief Executive

Following the recent news that CIRO’s Chief Executive, Fiona Tordoff is stepping down from the role after more than a decade of leadership, we’re pleased to announce Annette Shipley as her successor.

Annette assumed the role of interim CEO as of April 1st 2024. During her tenure, the Chartered Institution of Railway Operators will conduct a thorough search for a permanent replacement.

Chair of CIRO Board, Ellie Burrows commented “Annette has served as Deputy CEO of CIRO for the past few years. During this time, she’s demonstrated exceptional leadership and gained a profound understanding of our organisation’s mission.

“Her extensive experience as an executive director, coupled with her unwavering commitment to our values, makes her the ideal candidate to lead us through this transitional period.”

CIRO would like to express its warmest congratulations to Annette as she steps into the new challenging role. We have every confidence in her guidance and wish her the best of luck in her pursuit.
