Visit to West Hampstead PSB

Hosted by CIRO South East Area Council

Wednesday 19th April at 18:00

West Hampstead Thameslink Station

About the Event

As the modernisation of the MML continues, West Hampstead PSB will shortly be controlled and move from ‘traditional’ entre-exit panels to VDU control. The CIRO south east is offering a rare opportunity to visit one of the largest existing power signal boxes controlling one of the busiest mainlines in London.

On April 19th, a small group will be hosted by Network Rail at West Hampstead PSB, and given the opportunity to see the signalling floor, relay room, and signalling simulator. Opened in 1979, West Hampstead PSB controls the busy Midland Main Line from St Pancras to Sharnbrook, north of Bedford. This will be one of the last opportunities to see the PSB in its original form as December this year will see its area recontrolled to VDU screens.

Numbers are strictly limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.
