Rail and the Commonwealth Games – Collaborating for Large Scale Events

Presented by a Panel of Industry Experts

This event will be held on Microsoft Teams.

‘How is the rail industry working together to facilitate a memorable Commonwealth Games over Summer 2022, and how are we making sure the headlines are firmly focussed on sport, not transport?’

The CIRO Midlands Area Council is excited to host a discussion panel with leading industry experts on how the rail sector can work as one to successfully navigate its way through the handling of such a large scale event which will see thousands of extra passengers across its services.

The panel will discuss what organisations are doing to ensure they are ready for such an increased demand and what risks the industry may face during the Commonwealth games. There will also be a focus on what the train service will look like for passengers and what kind of an impression the industry hopes to make upon the region during the international sporting event.

The live discussion will be chaired by Martin Colmey, Operations Director for Network Rail, who will be joined by a panel of industry experts. Confirmed panellists are as follows:

Malcolm Holmes, Executive Director for West Midlands Rail Executive and Director of Rail for Transport for West Midlands
Neil Gaskin, Programme Director for Central Route for Network Rail
Ben Roberts, Head of Commonwealth Games for West Midlands Trains

More panellists will be announced shortly! Register today to receive reminders about this event and to access the live webinar.
