Asset Management Planning Talk | Hybrid (In-Person and Online)
The North East Area Council is hosting an evening of back-to-back events and social opportunities for its members on Wednesday 12th October 2022.
The first event of the evening will be their AGM, which is in-person only, and will be followed by light refreshments. The second event of the evening, which is in-person and online, will be a presentation on Asset Management Planning in collaboration with the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
The presentation will cover POD sections 8 (Rolling Stock and Fleet Management) and 9 (Railway Engineering Maintenance and Renewable Management) and is a great opportunity for your own CPD and can help count towards your upgrade application with us.
AGM | 16:00 – 17:00
To start off the evening, the North East Area Council is holding its annual general meeting, which members are invited to attend to meet their council members and get an insight into the area council and what they’re working on. Following the AGM, refreshments and a buffet will be provided. Allowing the opportunity to socialise with other members and council members prior to the presentation starting.
Asset Management Planning Talk | 17:30 – 18:45 (approx)
The presentation will be delivered by Peter Alexander, Head of Business Development at Viper Innovations, accompanied by his colleague Anthony Rylance, and Mark Prescott, International Business Development Director at Dual Inventive, who will be giving us an update on their respective technologies looking at innovative asset management and how it can improve the operation and performance of the railway.
Viper Innovations are specialists in electrical power monitoring and have developed a dedicated monitoring system for rail signalling power supplies in conjunction with Network Rail. This system was first implemented as a trial in 2018 and is spreading across the UK with over 200 units installed and more on order. To date the system has saved well over 20,000 delay minutes and reduced operational expenditure by £100k just on incident management alone.
Dual Inventive are multi-system developers with a range of technologies currently installed in the UK and abroad. With systems such as wireless critical rail temperature monitoring, wireless remote TCODs and relay sensing they have a range of technology to improve performance across the network. They are currently installing an innovative wireless signal at a location in the Netherlands that will create great interest in the UK for freight movements and sidings management.
After Event Social
We know that many members welcome the opportunity to meet industry colleagues and we will also adjourn to the ‘York Tap’ after the event for some drinks and a chat.
