About This Event

The North East Area Council invites members to our Family Day at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, which runs for 18 miles from Pickering to Grosmont. We will meet at the Learning Centre at Pickering station on Platform 2 at 10:00.

Tea & coffee will be available in the Centre where you will be given an introduction to the railway, followed by a short tour of Pickering station.  We will then catch the 10:55 train to Grosmont, arriving at 12:05.  On the way, there will be an opportunity for members to shadow the guard.  On arrival at Pickering there will be visits to Grosmont Depot and signal box for those who wish.  We return on the 16:30 train to Pickering, arriving at 17:35.

Alternatively, you may prefer to explore Grosmont, or return to Pickering on an earlier train at 13:30, breaking your journey if you wish at Goathland.  There will be opportunities to purchase refreshments on the trains or at the tea rooms on Grosmont, Goathland and Pickering stations.

 

 

How to Attend

Places are limited to 30 for this visit. Tickets are limited to 5 per booking. Therefore please register as soon as possible, as places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.  When booking, please let us know the number of adult and child places you would like, and whether you have any mobility requirements. Tickets are available until 6th June at 23:00, or until they are all reserved.

Further details will be given to those who have been allocated a place.  If a delegate subsequently cannot attend, it is essential that they notify the organiser; late advice or failure to notify may reduce eligibility for subsequent events.
