The North East Area Council invites members to a talk about the challenges of power changeover on new (and not so new) OLE for multi-mode rolling stock switching between on-board-power and infrastructure-supplied power at up to 125mph, and the importance of a system approach to align operations & engineering.

With over 360 multi-mode trains in service or on order for both passenger and freight, this is a key aspect to support UK rail’s decarbonisation agenda.

Robin Davis (FCIRO and Class 810 Operations, Safety and Compatibility Lead) will talk about this aspect of the introduction of East Midlands Railway’s Aurora Class 810 bi-mode train and the work to ensure the Midland Main Line electrification scheme delivers this agenda, and the benefits of the £billions of investment in trains and infrastructure are realised.
